- Death of
Another Old Resident
- On Saturday last
(August 31) another old resident passed away . Mrs Ann
Chapman had been aling for some time and owing to her
advanced age required some amount of attention and this
was tendered with unremitting care by her daughter , Mrs
J.W.Wilson .

- The Deceased
arrived in the colonies from Kent England in 1808 with
her parents , Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam
Chevans
who were of independent means .
-
- In 1823 she
married Mr Chapman in Sydney . They arrived on the
Mecleay in 1833 with a family of six children settling at
Yarrabandini .
-
- Mr
Chapman
speculated considerably in property and their home at
Yarrabandinni became quite a centre of hospitality and
kindness.
-
- In the days when
doctor , nurses and even friends were seperated by log
distances , the name of Mrs Chapman was known throughtout
the district for her unceasing care and attention to the
wants of others .

- The deceased
leaves two sons, Mr F.W. Chapman (North Grafton) & Mr
W.E.Chapman of Fernleight Summer Hill , Sydney &
two Daughters , Mrs Cheers of Frederickton and Mrs J.W.Wilson of
West Kempsey .

- There was a large,
attendance at the funeral . The coffin was taken into the
Church wherethe Rev . C.F. Turner read the Church of
England service . Mr C . Lowrey presided at the organ .
The Pall beares were R.A.H. Kemp , Jp,J. Johnston JP, C.
Sutherland, JP. John Ducat , W.T.Dangar and J.Lane
- The deceased
leaves 25 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren . The
coffin was strewn with flowers and carried like by
friends and relatives . The funeral arrangements were
carried out under the direction of Messrs T.Walker and
Sons .
